Christmas Preparations

Well we are as ready as we are going to be for Christmas at our home.

The tree is up.

There has been baking and Christmas dinner fixings are in the refrigerator.

The only thing left on my checklist is to read A Christmas Carol. This is one of my traditions that I have kept most years since I was a little girl. It is one of my favorite stories and I never get tired of it. I am also taking my second go at The Brothers Karamazov, which you can check my progress on at my Goodreads link in the sidebar. I can’t remember how far I got the first time I read this but I don’t think I have hit uncharted territory yet.

Oh, I almost forgot, we went to see The Hobbit last weekend. Loved it! My favorite part of it was the casting of Bilbo. I really like Martin Freeman so much better as Bilbo than I do Ian Holm from The Lord of the Rings.

Remember the Garter Rib scarf I finished last time? I had a half a skein of the yarn left which was just enough for a pair of fingerless mitts, so that’s what I did. I cast on for a very simple style with the Garter Rib stitch pattern to match the scarf. Simple and quick. I haven’t written this up as a pattern, but I probably could. We’ll see…

Merry Christmas to you all!

  1. Those mitts look very pretty and cozy! I like your book reading tradition, great idea. I loved the Hobbit and agree about Bilbo, he was great!

    1. Thanks for the compliment. I wear fingerless mitts all the time and they are so fun and quick to make.
