Belated Happy New Year

I hope you all had a lovely New Year’s weekend, I know we did. We didn’t go out and paint the town, but we did have lots of family visiting which was the best way to welcome the new year I can think of.

Both our oldest daughters came over and my in-laws came on Sunday afternoon. This was the first time any of Jerry’s family have gotten to see our granddaughter, Willow. She is 10 months now and she and Elijah can really start to interact with each other. It is so adorable and fun to watch them growing up together.

This is my sweet mother in law holding Willow. Willow is one of those babies who know no strangers. She warms up to us all like she sees us every day.

We did a little present opening since we couldn’t be together on Christmas.

Cassie, sure has a way with the little ones.

Our youngest daughter Emma and Willow, really had fun playing together. Emma is great at imitating animals, especially horses and Willow was enthralled with her.

See what I mean about them interacting. I have no idea what they were saying but at least it looks good, LOL!

Well it did anyway, heh.

I think the photographer must have started to look more interesting than each other.

Entertaining is hard work. Smile

I should have some more knitting to show you on my next post. I worked on the navy Owl Vest and am past the arm hole division and working on the back tonight. Maybe I can get in finished in a night or two. Later!

Quick update

image

This is going to be just a brief update to let you know a more thorough one, with pictures is to come later. I hated to let another day go by without posting and haven’t had time to upload the pictures from my camera. :-)
So, anyway, we are in Asheville,NC for SAFF.  I am at the moment sitting in the breakfast room at the hotel and will soon be heading over to the festival for Day 2. The trees are beginning to show their color and the weather is crisp and beautiful.  Yesterday was a great day with lots of yarn and fiber lovers to visit with. Love that.
There has been some knitting too. I finished the baby sweater sleeve and started the second. I slap did some work on the second Hedgerow Mitts in the booth when I had a few moments. Pictures will be forthcoming.
Oh I started reading The Woman in White by Wilkie Collins and it is delightful.
Okay I have got to get and het ready for a busy day. More later.

Wow. How the heck does this work?

Chicago! We are in you!

We arrived in Schaumberg on Monday afternoon after a short three and a half hour drive, which was kind of nice for a change. We had a leisurely breakfast, then packed and got on the road.

We spent Monday afternoon just hanging out in the hotel. I think the girls went for a swim, and I washed diapers and read. Tuesday we had a few errands to run; we needed to make a bank deposit and replenish our food for lunches and snacks. We took care of that in the morning and stayed in for the afternoon while some thunderstorms rolled through. The wi-fi went out briefly a couple times, but other than that it was not a big deal.

Today was set up for us at the Schaumberg Convention Center for Stitches Midwest 2011. We headed over about 9:00 am and were done by lunch time. Want to see?

Getting set up

Here’s what it looked like while we were still unpacking. Getting set up

I planned to take a picture of us unloading the trailer and moving stuff in, but I forgot until we got this far along. Oops!

Knitting Notions yarn and shawls

Here we are all finished. This is the left side of the booth.

Here’s another view from near the center front.

Here’s from the right corner. I think it’s a pretty nice set up.

baby slept through the setup

Yes, he did sleep about an hour like that. We had no where to lay him down so we went out and got the car seat and it actually worked. He woke up right after this when we were leaving.

I have not been doing much knitting during my down time this week. I have been in more of a reading mood so I have almost finished Crush and am half way through The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo audiobook. Actually I think I will get out my iPod and listen to that while I go check on my laundry.

Bye for now!

Post from Audible for Android

I’m listening to Christine Falls: A Novel (Unabridged) Part 1 on #Audible for #Android. Get the app free: http://audible.com/wireless @audible_com

This book is pretty darn good. I listened to almost the whole thing on my trip today. I love the character development. I don’t want to give away much about the story, so I won’t go into details about that. I found the reader’s voice just right for the story too. Highly recommended!

We are here in the hotel in Holland MI. I just ordered pizza and have to get the baby ready for bed soon. It’s been a long day; more tomorrow!

New toys and yarn sale

Here’s my new toy! My Motorola Atrix. This thing leaves my Backflip in the dust.  You know my favorite thing about it besides how fast it is? I can run Firefox on it which syncs with my laptop. Can you stand it? Think of the possibilities! Open-mouthed smile

Another thing that I had pre-ordered from Amazon that you see up there is my 30th Anniversary disc of Reo Speedwagon  Hi-Infidelity. This was one of my first albums, yes on vinyl, that I bought as a young teenager back in 1981 when it came out. I wore that record out and know every lyric for every song. It’s now on my iPod and I will be enjoying it shortly. I’m watching the Foo Fighters at the iTunes Festival on iTunes right now. Talk about awesome! This is a full 2 and a half hour set list. Go check it out in the iTunes store.

Here’s a not too great picture of my sock in progress. The heel has been turned. Nyah-Nyah

Oh, I started reading The Help and I am about 70 or so pages into it and it’s very good. It’s definitely a character and issue driven story, but I like those just fine.

I am still into exploring a lot of the 90’s bands I missed and am currently on a Soundgarden and Pearl Jam binge. I am working my way through all 9 of PJ’s studio albums and some of it is an acquired taste, but then so is beer and coffee, and I love both of them too. Just sayin’. Winking smile

One last thing I want to mention is that we are having a YARN SALE on the website until July 27th. All the yarn in the Specials section, which is already marked down from the regular price, is an additional 30% off with the coupon code julymadness .  Feel free to pass this on to anyone who might be interested. Smile
