Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival 2012

Yesterday began our annual trek to Pittsburgh for the Knit and Crochet Festival.  I look forward to this show each year for a couple of reasons. First, it comes at a time of year when we have had a long break and are eager to get back to work. Second, it is well organized and attended which makes everyone happy. It gets pretty busy on Saturday, which is always a good thing.  2012 02 09_0386.JPG

The fact that it is held around Valentine’s Day is both good and bad. It’s good because it comes during a slow sales period for us. On the other hand, it is bad due to the fact that we have to travel 580 miles and the weather can be pretty dicey.  Next year however it will be moving up to the third weekend in March. This should help with the weather issue. See, since I grew up in the southeast, I don’t have much experience driving in snow, and would rather not do it even around town at home. Add to that a long journey hauling a large trailer and it is terrifying to me. I have, through necessity, learned to do it, but I still hate it. It scares the crap out of me to be honest.

We saw a little light snow driving up yesterday, but the roads were clear and we made it without incident. There is some more light snow forecast here on Saturday and Sunday, but I think it will not be anything we can’t handle. We only have about a half a mile commute to the venue and our hotel has full kitchens which means no daily trek for food. We brought groceries and can cook simple stuff in the room, which beats fast food all week.

Here’s my work area and as you can see, I have made some progress on my scarf.  I have about an inch and a half to go before doing the other edging.

The color is more accurate on my monitor in the above picture.

You can see the kitchen area in the back.

We spent the afternoon setting up the booth and catching up with vendors we haven’t seen for awhile.

Well, some of us were working. Some of us were taking a much needed nap.

Here’s what it looked like when we left. I am very pleased with how the new banner looks in the booth.
